Identification of a new sulfonic acid metabolite of metolachlor in soil
Article Abstract:
Soil sample extracts were analyzed using negative-ion fast-atom bombardment mass spectrometry and fast-atom bombardment tandem mass spectrometry to identify a new ethanesulfonic metabolite of metolachlor (metolachlor ESA). It was shown that metolachlor ESA was formed in soil as the concentration of metolachlor decreased. The findings suggest that chloroacetanilide herbicides share a common detoxification pathway.
