Growth, death, and climate featured in Salt Lake City
Article Abstract:
Two groups at the 1997 Geological Society of American meeting reported discoveries indicating cooling during the warm interglacial period 120,000 to 130,000 years ago. Other reports concerned a catastrophic extinction 250 million years ago and climate effects on mammal growth patterns.

Sea floor records reveal interglacial climate cycles
Article Abstract:
Climate scientists have found evidence of climactic cycles that date back 2 million years. The findings suggest that climate varies in regular cycles that last from 1,200 to 6,000 years. The research is the first of its kind to reveal patterns from several interglacial periods.

Ice-age rain forest found moist, cooler
Article Abstract:
Analysis of pollen in lake mud from the Amazon rain forest indicates that tropical South America cooled considerably during the last ice age while remaining moist and densely forested. Temperatures reached five to six degrees Celsius.
