Galaxy surveys seek the architecture of the cosmos
Article Abstract:
Astronomers are planning the deepest and most comprehensive sky surveys ever, which will map and catalog millions of galaxies in earth's region of the universe. They will provide clues to how the early universe was laid out and how galaxies formed. Past and planned sky surveys are discussed.

Doubts greet claims of cosmic axis
Article Abstract:
Most physicists and radio astronomers doubt the claim made by Borge Nodland and John Ralston that space has an overall orientation. If true, such an orientation would indicate that physical laws are not the same everywhere. Theories of the Big Bang would also have to be altered.
