The global HIV picture has some interesting societal facets, with infection first appearing in the more affluent section of the society and festering in the marginalized sector. While HIV and AIDS control is the norm in developing countries, economic and political pressures slow HIV and AIDS control in developing countries.

The Global Positioning System

The Dept of Defense's Global Positioning System (GPS) has become more precise than expected. The GPS, consisting of satellites over 20,000 kilometers in space, can detect movements in the earth's crust, as well as guiding airplanes, boats, cars and cargo containers on the ground.

Global population and the nitrogen cycle

The scarcity of nitrogen supply in usable forms have urged agronomists to develop practical and alternative sources of nitrogen. Aside from soluble inorganic nitrates and cyanamide processes, the invention of ammonia synthesis have helped increased the supply of nitrogen.
