Illuminating the future for bioremediation
Article Abstract:
Researchers from the University of Tennessee and the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory underwent an EPA-approved field release of a bioengineered microorganism, Pseudomonas fluorescens HK44, in semicontained lysimeters. The organism can provide clues that the use of bioengineered organisms are safe.

Science panel confirms low-dose estrogenic effects
Article Abstract:
A panel of 36 scientists from the National Toxicology Program state that low-dose effects have been demonstrated in animals for estradiol and some estrogenic compounds. The panel also stated that nonylphynol and the phytoestrogen genistein have low-dose effects on the immune system and neurological structure.
