Carbon particles in dated sediments from Lake Michigan, Green Bay, and tributaries
Article Abstract:
Carbon particle analysis of four sediment cores from Lake Michigan yielded carbon contents between 0 and 1.0% except the samples taken from the Kinnickinnic River (KK-6). The high values seen in KK-6, which ranged between 3-33%, is believed caused by a former coke and coal gasification plant. The high values in wood fraction of Lake Michigan core, which ranged between 40 and 95%, revealed long-range transport of small diameter wood particles at 18-22 micronm with a minimum during 1960-197O.

New online biomonitoring system for Gammarus pulex (L.) (crustacea): in situ test below a copper effluent in South Sweden
Article Abstract:
A new online biomonitoring system based on a quadropole impedance conversion technique proved effective in simultaneously identifying several behavioral parameters of a new biomonitoring test species, Gammarus pulex. The gammarus pulex's behavioral responses to simulated copper pollution peaks were obtained with the use of the biomonitor and was simultaneously validated in the field.
