Information systems for business: a look past and a glimpse into the future
Article Abstract:
Information systems for business are of two types: transactional and decision support. The latter will be of most important in the years ahead, as managers must decide whether they will be able to use information technology to help them in their decision making. Managers must be careful not to plan systems too large or complex in the beginning. They must also be sure that they have a keen understanding of the way the technology is already integrated into their company before attempting to redesign it to meet their specifications.
