Lymphocytes help the immune system of vertebrates to effectively fight a number of different pathogenic microbes. The T and B lymphocytes, or the immune system's effector cells, have two different modes. These different modes help the immune system respond to many different pathogens. The differentiation of lymphocytes is explored.
