Intra-firm versus licensed transfers of machine-tool technology
Article Abstract:
Data obtained from previous surveys and interviews were used to determine the preferred mode of technology transfer among machine tool manufacturers and evaluate the effectiveness of internalized and licensed transfer agreements. Results indicate that machine tool manufacturers rely on internalized agreements to promote technology transfer in major markets. On the other hand, licensed transfers are considered by the machine tool industry as the 'second best' strategy for providing technical assistance to customers.
