Kinetics of the laser-induced photoreduction of U(VI) in aqueous suspensions of TiO2 particles
Article Abstract:
Irradiation-induced uranium(VI) reduction to uranium(IV) in a titanium dioxide solution has been found to involve only adsorbed uranium species. Time-resolved laser-induced fluorescence was used both as a monitor and an energy source for the reaction experiments and results also show that uranium reduction is possible even in an oxygenated medium and that the mechanisms in play may also have counterparts in oxic-photic zone of surface waters.

Products of the gas-phase reactions of NO3 radicals with furan and tetramethylfuran
Article Abstract:
A study showed the reaction of NO3 radicals with furan and tetramethylfuran yielded cis- and trans-butenedial as main products, with no indication of the formation of nitrates and peroxynitrates, for reaction with furan. Reaction with tetramethylfuran yielded a product that was tentatively identified as cis-3,4-dimethylhex-3-en-2,5-dione.
