Large-scale genomic approaches to brain development and circuitry
Article Abstract:
The current phenotype- and genotype-driven approaches for discovering novel central nervous system (CNS)-expressed genes and approaches for carrying out large-scale, gene-expression screens in the CNS are discussed. Dominant and semi-dominant genome-wide screens, recessive screens, genotype-driven screens, gene-trap screening for CNS expressed genes and large-scale screens using gene targeting are the different approaches fro the discovery of CNS-expressed genes.

Molecular approaches to spinal cord repair
Article Abstract:
Explanation about axon growth inhibitors being associated with myelin and the glial scar that contribute to the failure of axon regeneration in the injured adult mammalian central nervous system (CNS) is presented. A number of approaches to neutralize such inhibitors are discussed.

Why is wallerian degeneration in the CNS so slow?
Article Abstract:
The axon degeneration and myelin clearance mechanisms of the Wallerian degeneration are studied by experiments. The result shows that wallerian degeneration is rapid and robust in the peripheral nervous system and slow and incomplete in the central nervous system.
