Lost in cyberspace: scientists look for a better way to search the Web
Article Abstract:
Researchers from IBM, Cornell University and the University of California Berkeley are busy developing new search engines to ease information retrieval on the Internet. The basis of the search strategy is the automatic resource compiler, which has been augmented with an interconnection analyzer to sort the information resource into categories of importance.

The introduction of the European monetary union will be another bug that companies engaged in international trade would have to handle. The year 2000 problem already poses risks to computer systems and these, coupled with the euro would make computers all the more prone to failures.

Attack of the fire ants: the insect has spread, maiming animals and shifting the ecological balance
Article Abstract:
Scientists are worried that the spread of the fire ant, Wasmannia auropunctata, to the Galapago, South Pacific and Africa may be causing damage to the ecological balance. The ants, like weeds, easily adapt to new environments and are difficult to exterminate.
