Management, technology, and what's next
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the 'fifth' economic long wave expansion reveals that essential traits that firms need include flexibility, adaptiveness, responsiveness, action-oriented behavior and a high skill mix, particularly multi-functional skills. The study uses data from management history literature and economic long wave research to determine the commencement of the next expansion cycle and the 'paradigm of automation' providing the expansion engine.
