Mass spectrometric evidence for the formation of bromochloramine and N-bromo-N-chloromethylamine in aqueous solution
Article Abstract:
The utilization of membrane introduction mass spectrometry (MIMS) for the formation of mixed halomines in aqueous solutions is discussed. Analytes were selectively pervaporated through a semipermeable membrane into the vacuum of a mass spectrometer. The utility of MIMS for monitoring the formation of bromochlaromines from the reactions of monochlaromines with bromide ion and with hypobromous acid in aqueous solution was demonstrated.

Solid-phase microextraction of nitrogen- and phosphorus-containing pesticides from water and gas chromatographic analysis
Article Abstract:
Solid-phase microextraction (SPME) was found to be a useful method in the measurement of 39 of the 46 nitrogen- and phosphorus-containing pesticides listed under the US EPA Method 507. Thirty-four and 39 pesticides, respectively, were measured at levels lower than the EPA method detection limits and precision requirements, when analyzed by SPME and gas-liquid chromatography using a nitrogen-phosphorus detector and mass spectrometry.
