Gros Morne National Park encompasses 1.25 billion years of the earth's history. The tablelands and other geological features illustrate key stages of the earth's development. In 1987 the park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The paper kingdom

Mid-spring signals the start of nestbuilding among wasp queens. With bits of wood, pulp and a drop of saliva, a tiny colony is constructed that will house a whole kingdom of paper wasps for the remainder of the season.
