Minnesota DOT pursues privatization projects
Article Abstract:
Minnesota's Dept. of Transportation is looking for private investors for five of its toll-road projects. State laws are responsible for the birth of the TRANSMART program and have also mandated that there should be alternative sources of funds for projects worth more than $10 million. Residents have also expressed their willingness to pay tolls to ensure road quality. Minnesota has set aside at least $10 million for the projects, with the rest coming from revenue bonds, equity shares and loans from the federal government.
