IPI world congress in Warsaw a resounding success

The media executives, leading journalists and their guests from many countries gathered in Warsaw, Poland on May 2004 for the International Press Institute (IPI) world congress and 53rd General Assembly. The Warsaw congress proved to be a great success in large parts to the efforts of the Polish host committee and the delegates praise and appreciation was reflected in full house and extensive media coverage.

Al Gore's money problem

Presidential candidate and Vice President Albert Gore Jr. hopes to raise $55 million for his campaign between May, 1999, and August, 2000. While Gore has shown himself very adept at raising money, this very ability may hurt him in the election because Gore could be seen as more interested in raising money than in political issues.

New Genes Boost Rice Nutrients

Molecular biologist Ingo Potrykus at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich has succeeded in creating a genetically engineered rice strain that carries both beta-carotene (Vitamin A) and iron. This breakthrough gene transfer may provide relief from malnutrition for billions of people for whom rice is a staple.
