Chaos keeps data under wraps: optical communications
Article Abstract:
A team at the Univ of Besancon in France has adapted deterministic chaos to optical communication signals, enabling high-speed data encryption and decoding. Identical feedback loops on sending and receiving lasers produce the same chaotic noise. By cancelling them out, the coded message is found.
