Bits of radio: receiving digital broadcasts becomes cheaper and easier - except in the U.S
Article Abstract:
Digital radio broadcasting is clearer than analog radio broadcasting, and Psion has created an inexpensive receiver to receive the signals. The units will not work in the US since the US selected the use of in-band spectrum in developing its radio broadcasting.

The fiasco of the 2000 presidential election in Florida prompted many protestors to call for a comprehensive electronic voting system to replace outdated voting-machines. Many problems confront such plans, not least of which is the integrity of the one person-one vote principle in the face of easily compromised data security technology.
