Numerical modeling of resistance brazing process behavior in joining electrical contact materials

Article Abstract:

A one-dimensional, explicit, finite difference model was used to describe the behavior of resistance brazing process. A central difference scheme for the spatial approximation and a forward difference scheme for the transient iteration were used for the finite difference method. The model's simulation of resistance brazing of powder metallurgy contacts to copper terminal was good. Used in conjunction with an experimental reference, the model could be used in troubleshooting or developing similar processes.

Thermal phase transformation and residual stress estimation of multi-layer materials for cylindrical or flat shape

Article Abstract:

A thermal, phase transformation and residual stress estimation of multi-layer materials involves an analytical method based on the analysis of an inclusion embedded in a matrix. The method uses cylindrical coordinates to predict the stress behavior in cylindrical or flat shaped layers. Two layers are increamented at a time in the problem solving process. The thermal and residual stress estimations are in good agreement with the finite element method.

Stress-strain analysis of a taper-taper adhesive-bonded joint under cylindrical bending

Article Abstract:

First-order laminated plate theory was used to derive a model of a taper-taper adhesive-bonded joint under cylindrical bending. Transverse shear deformation was accounted for by the use of shear correction factors. The COSMOS/M commercial finite element package was used to develop a finite element model to verify the analytical model for a cross-ply laminate. The analytical model results agreed well with the finite element models.
