Adsorption of glyphosate on the clay mineral montmorillonite: effect of Cu(II) in solution and adsorbed on the mineral
Article Abstract:
Copper (Cu), either in solution or adsorbed on the clay mineral montmorillonite, causes a decrease in the adsorption of the herbicide glyphosate (GPS) on montmorillonite. Cu-GPS complexes formed during Cu and GPS interaction have limited ability to be adsorbed on montmorillonite unlike the free GPS. The type of soil and the elements present in it affect the extent to which GPS is adsorbed onto soils.

Adsorption-desorption of chlordimeform on montmorillonite: effect of clay aggregation and competitive adsorption with cadmium
Article Abstract:
Researchers studied the adsorption-desorption reactions of pesticides in montmorillonite clays in various levels of aqueous suspension. Chlordimeform showed low apparent affinity for adsorbing the clay. When CA2+/NA+ charge rations were less than 0.06, the apparent affinity increased dramatically. Dispersion of the clay also affected adsorption. A model of adsorption-desorption was created and tested against data collected for chlordimeform, cadmium, and magnesium, and showed strong correlation. Further testing of the mathematical model showed its effectiveness when up to 6 cations are included.
