Partnering tested on BART extension
Article Abstract:
The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) will use partnering to build the Colma Station Extension. The $170 million project will extend rail service up to the San Francisco International Airport. Facilities to be constructed include a subway, elevated and at-grade line and track section, a five-story parking lot,a rail yard and intermodal facilities. The project is a test case to assess theeffectivity of partnering. BART hopes partnering will save money and time and improve the quality of work. 'Delayed decisive actions,' which are the most common cause of project delays and cost overruns could be eliminated.

BART on a roll
Article Abstract:
The San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) is constructing a $517 million rail extension system project known as the Dublin/Pleasanton extension. The project, scheduled for completion in mid-1997, is the largest component of a $1.2-billion BART program to extend the original 71.5-mile transit system by 23.4 miles. BART will also add five new stations. The Dublin/Pleasanton line is unique among the extensions since it requires the construction of a new rail line, one perpendicular to the existing Fremont line.
