Pinning down inflation
Article Abstract:
Physicists are trying to validate the inflation theory proposed by Alan H. Guth to explain the birth of the universe. The validity of the theory may find reinforcement in NASA's Microwave Anisotrophy Probe, that will provide measurements on microwave background with which to compare the theory.

Important questions remain after the capping of the oil wells in Kuwait that were blown up by Iraqi soldiers in the 1991 Persian Gulf War. Key questions include have oil reservoirs been irreparably damaged, and why has the US not talked about the environmental damage of the fires.
