Polar alert: there are troubling signs that pollution and climate change may be adversely affecting polar bears
Article Abstract:
Wildlife scientists are alarmed that the survival of the polar bears is being threatened by pollution. PCBs and other toxins may be causing mutations such as those found by researchers in the islands of Egeoya and Hopen in Apr 1996. An unusually high number of bears having both male and female genitalia was found.
