Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxin and dibenzofuran concentration profiles in sediment and fish tissue of the Willamette basin, Oregon
Article Abstract:
Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxin and dibenzofuran profiles in the Willamette basin have been found to have a distinct homolog profile in all collection sites regardless of location. Analysis of homolog's principal components shows a gradient showing the dominance of highly chlorinated congeners in sites near human and industrial activity. The homolog profile was consistent regardless of total concentration, presence of point sources, location, land use and subbasin size.

Magnetic, chemical, and microscopical characterization of urban soiling on historical monuments
Article Abstract:
The deposition of magnetic airborne particles at historical monuments in UK was analyzed by magnetic measurements of bulk samples, scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy. Analysis of samples from the sulfated patinas of British limestone monuments indicated the presence of high levels of ferrimagnetic grains. The particulates are composed of Fe3O4 crystals with minor traces of hematite, quartz and feldspar.
