Rates of sorption and partitioning of contaminants in river biofilm
Article Abstract:
Researchers from Canada and Germany investigated the partitioning of pesticide levels using mature biofilm cultivated in a roto-torque reactor. The experiment revealed that sorption of pesticides occurs by first-order kinetics and is not limited to the lipophilic regions of river biofilms.

The use of hydrophobic resins as analogues for sediment testing
Article Abstract:
Researchers from The University of Reading, UK demonstrated that the exposure of oligochaete worm L. variegatus to two types of resin particles reveals that the test organism can assess the toxicity and bioavailability of organic pesticides.
