Article Abstract:
A government initiative is focusing on computer that perform a quadrillion computations per second, or petaflops, just as the first tetraflops computer is coming on-line at Sandia National Labs. SUch speed would necessitate a departure from conventional silicon technology. Three new processing concepts are described.
