Article Abstract:
The reconstruction of 11 miles of U.S. Highway 52 through the heart of Rochester, Minnesota, US - known as ROC 52 project - appears poised to become the standard by which all design/build projects in the state will be measured. The $ 232-million highway will widen the highway from four to six lanes and the project also includes 26 bridges and 11 interchanges.

Tight squeeze
Article Abstract:
This article describes construction of a bridge to replace the aged and structurally unsound Route 21 Viaduct in Newark, New Jersey. The new structure will be over 18,000 feet long and uses steel plate girders and multicolumn piers with earthquake safety features. Logistic problems in the construction of an urban infrastructure are discussed.
