Schizophrenic atom doubles as Schrodinger's cat - or kitten
Article Abstract:
Researchers have trapped a beryllium atom and used laser beams to produce a superposition of internal quantum states that are separated so that the atom is apparently in two locations simultaneously. The experiment is being presented as a version of the Schrodinger's cat theory.

Atomic mouse probes the lifetime of a quantum cat
Article Abstract:
A team of physicists has constructed minute versions of Schrodinger's cat and mouse to measure the effect called quantum decoherence. The experiment uses several microwave photons in an indeterminate quantum state for the cat and a reactor atom for the mouse.

All together for quantum computing
Article Abstract:
Located at Caltech and funded with a 5-year, $5-million Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency grant, the Institute for Quantum Information and Computing (QUIC) will open in Sep 1996 to determine whether quantum computers can really work.
