Science parks in developing countries: the case of BIORIO in Brazil
Article Abstract:
The BIORIO case shows how industrial parks can provide a potentially productive university-industry interface in developing countries. BIORIO is evaluated and necessary conditions for successful park management are drawn. Necessary conditions for successful park management include the need for qualified research personnel, access to a market and access to technical and managerial skills. There is also a need to provide for trade secret protection, proper selection firms, a science park identity, a long-term management plan, a manager with a vision, government backing among others.

From university-industry interfaces to the making of a science park: Florianopolis, Southern Brazil
Article Abstract:
The Park Alfa experience of Brazil shows how the University of Florianopolis in Brazil has responded to social and productive needs demanded from universities.
