Electronics miniaturization is a continuing trend, as evidenced by a 1991 trade show in Japan. Sony Corp showed a digital tape recorder about the size of a cigarette pack, and Bose Corp displayed small stereo loudspeakers. Tiny television sets and other products were exhibited.

Sharp Corp has developed television monitors that are only three inches thick, making it literally possible to hang a monitor on the wall. It is expected that the first application of such television sets will be for corporate displays of art, products or business activities.
