Shutting down Alzheimer's
Article Abstract:
Alzheimer's disease gradually severs even one's oldest memories, but new research reveals strategies for blocking the molecular processes that lead to this memory-destroying disease. Scientists have focused on the hypothesis that a peptide called amyloid-beta triggers the disruption and death of brain cells in patients and researchers are developing drugs that could inhibit the production of A-beta and therapies that could stop the peptide from harming neurons.
