Spatial distribution of PAHs in the U.K. atmosphere using pine needles
Article Abstract:
The levels of distribution of atmospheric polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were analyzed in the pine needles of U.K. Analysis of PAH concentrations in pine needle samples from selected sites in U.K.'s indicated the presence of high levels of phenanthrene with traces of anthracene, methylphenanthrene and coronene. The pine needle analysis exhibited the consistent distribution of PAH in U.K. which is affected by selective deposition.

PCBs in U.K. urban air
Article Abstract:
Polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) concentrations were observed in four UK urban centers from 1991-1992. The UK concentrations exhibited comparable properties with other urban areas on an international scale. The phenomenon of urban atmospheric PCB loading is attributed to several urban environment point sources and to a PCB building source. Building air and vegetation are observed as primary factors in urban air conditions.

Depositional time trends and remobilization of PCBs in lake sediments
Article Abstract:
A study of the lake sediments of Esthwaite Water, a small lake in England, verifies that PCB inputs to the environment have decreased, but it was observed that some PCB volatilization from the sediments has been occurring. The PCB congeners that are being recycled from the sediment are those that are less chlorinated and more aqueous soluble.
