Strange places: an astronomical breakthrough reveals an odd new world
Article Abstract:
The discovery of a planet-like object near 51 Pegasi was announced by Michel Mayor and Didier Queloz, from the Geneva Observatory, in Oct 1995. The pair observed a slight repeating shift near the star for 18 months and conclude it is a planet even though it does not conform to planet formation theories.

The greening of Europa: are the satellites of giant planets a place to look for life?
Article Abstract:
Europa, Jupiter's large moon, has been generating interest as it is increasingly believed that life is possible not just on planets but also on their satellites. They contend that habitability on other planets and satellites may have been underestimated.

Unlikely places: planets show up where nobody expected to see them
Article Abstract:
Astronomers generally expect to find planets near other stars. Instead, research indicates that two or three planets may be orbiting around a pulsar known as PSR 1257+12.
