Taking the heat
Article Abstract:
Shielding the component from the source of heat is one of the two effective ways by which critical components can be prevented from being overexposed to heat. Two of the materials that have been developed for this purpose are T&N Composites' heat shield materials called Nimbus and Cirrus. While Nimbus is used primarily for automotive applications, Cirrus, with higher temperature capabilities, is used for protecting alternators, air conditioners, and the like. Ceramic materials in either the form of a coating or as stand-alone shielding are also used to shield components from heat.

Finishing first
Article Abstract:
Organically coated steel can be made into different designs while maintaining its protective function. They are used in the manufacture of household appliances such as washing machines as well as in the production of computers. Prefinished steel can be manipulated in almost the same way as ordinary sheet metal using traditional machinery. They have the advantage of a surface finish that is more durable and consistent than that achieved through conventional spray-painting techniques. British Steel and Southborough both offer prefinished steel products.
