Stop Superfund stagnation
Article Abstract:
The Superfund program aims to control environmental pollution and hold companies liable for any environmentaldamage they may cause. However, the government's hesitation in implementing Superfund's provisions results in the release of more contaminants in the environment and the choice of costly and more complicated corrective methods. Meanwhile, companies unwilling to shoulder all cleanup costs file court cases, thus stalling cleanups until the cases are resolved. The EPA's vague regulations, unsupported by pertinent criteria, compound the issue.

Will the real ISO 14001 please stand up: While some hail environmental management standards, others see them as a management nonevent
Article Abstract:
The ISO 14001 environmental management standard aims to produce consistent and improving results, but its importance will depend on the type of company, industry, geoeconomic location and regulatory jurisdiction. It consists of five major sections including environmental policy, implementation, planning and management review. Survey shows that companies pursue ISO 14001 certification because their customers want them to.
