Technology spillovers and informatization in Japan: an analysis of information technology diffusion in large versus small and medium-sized enterprises
Article Abstract:
Japan is a major player in information technology (IT) production and development, despite its low levels of IT diffusion and dissemination. Research and development strategies are essential to enterprise development and sustainable national economic development. Japanese large enterprises outperform small and medium enterprises (SME) in terms of IT diffusion and knowhow. This has been one of the major stumbling blocks of SMEs in becoming competitive and getting ahead in the business. This is in complete contrast with their US counterparts, who have managed to proliferate to the wide IT diffusion.

Firms' information sources and the technology life cycle
Article Abstract:
An analysis of how firms benefit from the information industry reveals that firms can increase their stock of knowledge and allow their system of operations to evolve along the lines of technological advancement. The advent of information technology, however, did not change the basic criterion for competitiveness which is the development and application of proper technical, organizational and marketing knowledge. The amount of information that is available to any company does little to reduce the responsibilities of corporate executives.

Two cycles in life-cycle research
Article Abstract:
Researchers explain industrial development through conventional theory and other laws. More recent work sets these earlier conclusions aside and defines industrial development as a productof a firm's strategic behavior particularly in terms of technological applications. Despite the amount of information on technology resulting from various studies and its applicability, life cycle research remains open to changes.
