Coal's clean comeback
Article Abstract:
The Polk Power Station at Tampa, Florida, will be one of world's cleanest and most efficient coal-powered plants. The power station is using the Department of Energy's clean coal technology that includes both coal gasification and combined-cycle powerplant technology. The gasification method will assess a hot gas cleanup system, the addition of which could enhance overall efficiency of the integrated gasification combined cycle technology. It may also raise sulphur removal from the low-cost coal to more than 96%. The plant is owned by the Tampa Electric Company.

Aquarium floor shoulders heavy loads
Article Abstract:
Engineers for Ocean Journey Aquarium in Denver, CO, were forced to place its tanks on the second floor due to a tight, triangular building location. This requires the first floor of the structure to support the equivalent of a 12-story building. The 110,000 sq-ft aquarium features a cast-in-place concrete box exhibit area, which contains most of the exhibit space, and a curved glass and steel entrance with a cable-suspended concrete balcony.
