Protein degradation machineries in plastids
Article Abstract:
Plastids undergo drastic morphological and physiological changes under different developmental stages and in response to environmental conditions, for which maintaining homeostasis is significant for the quality and quantity control of many plastid proteins by proteases and chaperones. The types and function of plastid proteases together with new observations are discussed.

The ubiquitin 26S proteasome proteolytic pathway
Article Abstract:
In the pathway, ubiquitin (Ub) is attached to proteins destined for degradation and the resulting Ub protein conjugates are recognized and catabolized by the 26S proteasome. The understanding of the Ub/26S proteasome pathway and its function within plants, using Arabidopsis as the main example is provided.
