The food industry: still a craft industry?
Article Abstract:
The food industry, particularly the European food industry, continues to posses a powerful craft component. Such condition serves as a basis for the existence of inertia within the industry and emphasizes the need for utilizing both standardization and diversification of the food industry techniques. It has been noted that the foundations or the invariables responsible in the food industry's long-term growth are more apparent during periods of industrial redeployment or redefinition of social values.

Capital concentration among the food multinational enterprises and development of the world's agro-food system
Article Abstract:
Capital concentration serves as an alternative strategy for food multinational enterprises (FMNs) to attain growth despite the presence of constraints such as demand slowdown and food retailing sector strengthening. Capital concentration may involve partial or complete purchasing of a successful company to enhance market shares. Such strategy eliminates investment risks by acquiring firms that can provide a good market share to a FMN.
