The new perspective on I.T
Article Abstract:
The engineering profession is undergoing a profound transformation in terms of information technology (IT) since about 1996. The marked ideological shift toward considering IT as key to a firm's strategic plan is enabling engineering firms to refine existing processes, create new services and differentiate themselves from competitors. A study found that as of 1997, 95% of the architecture, engineering and construction firms surveyed had a centralized IT management staff.
