Article Abstract:
Forecasting errors regarding returns from the adoption of a new technology were fewer in 18 new processes introduced by one of the biggest companies in the country in the 1960s, compared with anticipated rates of return from investments in a flexible manufacturing system in 63 major firms. Although there is a likelihood that learning has occurred, companies still experience difficulty in forecasting several problems and hitches in a new technology.
