Three dams, one reservoir
Article Abstract:
An evaluation is presented on dam construction for the Eastside Reservoir project, which nearly doubled the water storage capabilities of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. Over 110 mil cu yd of rock and earth were needed to create the embankment volume for the project's three dams, one of which exceeds a length of two miles.

Article Abstract:
A description is presented on the rock-crushing and earthmoving operations required for dam construction at Southern California's Eastside Reservoir. The project, the largest of its kind in the US, moved 150 mil cu yd of materials, equivalent to more than double the amount excavated to create Europe's Channel Tunnel between the UK and France.

Article Abstract:
A description is presented on the water pumping and conveyance systems required for Southern California's Eastside Reservoir, which will become the region's largest freshwater body. The systems include a 260-ft-high inlet/outlet tower consisting of nine tiers of parallel portals, which will obtain water from the Colorado River.
