Jet grouting: new directions
Article Abstract:
Engineers have begun to utilize jet grouting to establish preinstalled structural supports for cut-and-cover excavations in soft ground and pervious soils. Unlike conventional injection methods, jet grouting supports concerns associated with environmental regulations and dewatering risks while advancing economic benefits. The technique pumps materials into rock or soil formations to alter the physical features of the formation in preparation for soft ground excavation projects.

Grouting through a river
Article Abstract:
Engineers have built a four feet tunnel under the Rocky River as part of the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District's endeavor to separate storm and sanitary flows in the river and stop overflows into Lake Erie. The construction team employed grouting through a concrete cap to construct the bored tunnel. Sound engineering and construction principles and good workmanship helped the successful completion of the tunnel across the 175-feet-wide river gorge.
