Two major signaling pathways meet at MAP-kinase
Article Abstract:
Both the Ras pathway, which conducts cell-growth messages, and the Jak-STAT pathway, which passes information key to other cellular responses, have been found to involve the enzyme MAP-kinase. Phosphorylation by MAP-kinase may be needed to activate signal transducers and activators of transcriptions (STATs).

Listening in on the brain
Article Abstract:
Neurological experiments suggest that the brain encodes information not only in the firing rates of individual neurons, but in patterns where groups of neurons work together. The most exciting discovery is that neurons synchronize with one another in patterns that produce specific behaviors.
