US technological competitiveness in the global economy: a survey
Article Abstract:
The results of a survey conducted to gauge US technological competitiveness in the global economy is presented. The US is still a major competititor for technology-based industries but US competitiveness is declining at a fast rate and this could be traced to management practices which promote short term horizons, to neglect of customer demands and foreign cultures and to lack of technology-based competitiveness strategies. It is believed that improvements in the general education, especially in the engineering and technology management curricula can greatly help in solving the problem.

Technological transfer to China: major rules and issues
Article Abstract:
The transfer of foreign technologies to China is governed by certain US rules aimed at controling the communist state's military capability. Although these rules present daunting obstacles to some US companies, they also offer a number of incentives, including a tax credit on technology transfer investments in the country. However, US companies should familiarize themselves with such rules to ensure successful and profitable technology transfer.
