Rare animals in Africa face the threat of extinction because of the growing demand for game meat. Efforts to reduce the number of animals killed for food are being taken by conservationists working with logging, farming and ranching concerns.

Extensive research of chimpanzee behavior reveals a variety of complex local traditions that reinforce their closeness to human beings. At least 39 behavior patterns were reported that could be classified as cultural variations.
