Weighing the universe
Article Abstract:
Astronomers are trying to account for the unseen mass in the universe, to test the theory of inflation, which holds that the universe's mass keeps it on the border between contraction and infinite expansion. Deep surveys of vast regions aim to find much more dark matter than has been detected so far.

Ages of the oldest clusters and the age of the universe
Article Abstract:
New calculations of the Hubble parameter based on Hubble Space Telescope observation of the Cepheids in the Virgo cluster are presented. The measurements suggest that the oldest galactic clusters are 16 billion years old, which would make the age of universe around 17 billion years.

No Backing Off From the Accelerating Universe
Article Abstract:
Examination of new data from distant exploding stars has led to conculsions that supporting the previous view that a large-scale repulsive force exists throughout the universe. The unexpected dimness of distant supernovae indicate the existence of the cosmological constant.
