Description of the SUPPORT intervention
Article Abstract:
The Study to Understand Prognoses and Preferences for Outcomes and Risks of Treatment (SUPPORT) intervention is described, and it is concluded that it was implemented vigorously and completely. In the intervention phase the the hypothesis that enhanced information an enhanced communication would improve decision-making measurably was to be tested. Objective prognostic calculations and reports of patient preferences would be delivered to physicians. Nurses would be specially trained and would elicit, clarify and transmit information and facilitate communication of patients and families with physicians.

Breast cancer screening in women aged 80 and older: results from a National survey
Article Abstract:
The national rates of mammography screening in women aged 80 and older are estimated and the relationship between health status and screening within the 2 years from 2002 to 2003 are investigated using a population-based survey. The results stated that more than half of women aged 80 and older in the United States receive screening mammograms.
