Benefits of women's education within marriage: results for Israel in a dual labor market context
Article Abstract:
The effects of educational investments in women on the husband's wages vary according to occupational groupings using data from the Israeli labor market model. In the primary labor market, the husband's earnings are positively related to the wife's level of education and years of marriage. In the secondary labor market, the wife's educational investment does not augment the husbands' earnings nor their economic status given the low intersectoral mobility and persistent negative attitudes toward work.
